ANZVS DERMATOPATHOLOGY PRIZE

The ANZVS Dermatopathology Prize will be awarded to the best presentation of a case study or other presentation relevant to vulvovaginal pathology by either a Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA) anatomical pathology trainee or early career pathologist OR an Australasian College of Dermatologist (ACD) accredited Registrar or early career dermatologist OR a trainee or early career practitioner from another specialty at the ANZVS Specialist Pathology Workshop.

Eligibility

An applicant should be a registered trainee of the RCPA or ACD, or a Fellow of the RCPA or ACD of fewer than 10 years; ANZVS will also consider submissions from trainees/early career Fellows from other Colleges. Presentations other than case studies, relevant to vulvovaginal pathology, will be considered based on the merit of the proposed abstract. Previous winners are ineligible to apply.

Prize

The successful recipient receives AUD $1,000 and a commemorative plaque.

Disclaimer: In the event of a tie between two or more eligible applicants for the ANZVS Vulval Dermatopathology Prize, the prize money will be equally shared among the winners. Each recipient will receive an equal portion of the total prize amount, which is AUD $1,000. This disclaimer is intended to clarify the distribution of the prize in the case of a tied outcome. The decision of the judging panel is final, and no appeals will be considered.

Assessment Criteria

All abstract submissions are assessed on:

• The clinicopathological content and relevance of the topic/presentation
• The contribution this case makes to existing knowledge
• Educational and interest value of the case
• Quality of the presentation
• Response to questions
• Timekeeping

The award review panel will select cases from submissions that will progress to presentation at the ANZVS Pathologist Workshop.

Selection Process

If you are selected to make an oral presentation, prepare your case in consultation with your supervisor (if you are a trainee). Supervisors are encouraged to attend the session to support their trainee and provide expert comments.

The oral presentations will be assessed by a judging panel as determined by ANZVS.

On the day of the presentation:

1. Presenter gives a presentation of up to 15 minutes (incorporating Q&A).
2. Following the presentation, the session chair will open the floor to the judging panel and audience to ask questions regarding the facts of the case, to be answered by the trainee.
